Welcome to the Jungle

Motocross IS the Law of the Jungle, plain and simple. What, you ask? Think of it like this, in the real jungle there are predators and there is prey. The studs of the jungle are the big cats, like Tigers, Lions or even Bears, the big meat eaters. But there are also cute little furry critters like rabbits, squirrels and deer, like Bambi. Which one are you? Do you go to the line with doubts? Do you get intimidated? Do you feel weak or get tired easy? Are you at the back of the pack? If you answer yes to any of these, you are at the wrong end of the motocross food chain.

What does it take to be a big cat in the jungle you ask? Well, here are some ideas. First of all are you training properly? Types of training include on the bike training and drills, physical training like running, cycling weight lifting and Pilates, agility training like martial arts, and mental training and confidence. There is also rest and recovery to allow your body to adapt to the stress levels of working out and diet and nutrition needs to properly fuel the body. Plus don’t forget about bike set up and proper maintenance.

If you have been paying attention to coach Seiji’s columns, you should know that PERIODIZATION training is the best way to train, and the sooner you get started on a program using periodization, the sooner you will become a Tiger.

By being strong and fit, along with solid fundamentals and great riding techniques, a good diet, plenty of rest and recovery, you WILL be mentally sound, confident and ready to tear up and eat your competition, you know, those little bunnies.

Listen, I have been teaching and instructing motocross students for over 10 years now and all the technique in the world still isn’t enough any more, think of what it would take to beat a Carmichael or Stewart. You MUST have the entire program in order, you must have a plan and you must have your goal be to execute that plan. Remember, “DO” is the part you have control over. So get to work and “DO” it. We are here for you.
