Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what School is right?

There are just a few good reputable schools to recommend. Look for how long they’ve been around, and do they travel to you? Also find references from riders who have been to schools. Word of mouth is the probably the best way to know.

Do I need to ride like Mc Grath to attend?

The 5 Magics MX School is for all riding abilities. Group classes are best for

beginner and novices, or for people going to a school for the first time. Class size is limited to 20 students and is broken into 2-3 small groups. No rider is EVER asked to do something they are not capable of doing. Come learn and have FUN!

What about privates or semi-privates?

These classes are designed more for the intermediate or pro level rider who wants to zero in on certain techniques or weaknesses they may have. Some Riders just want a private one on one, to have the day completely theirs. Semi-privates are good for friends or just a small group not wanting to do a group class. This is the perfect class for specific age groups, skill levels or bike sizes such as pee-wees.

Can my local pro teach me?

Yes, they can probably teach you to ride, but generally they are more interested in their own riding, then to take the time to teach you riding from A-Z. And, will they be there you in the long run? Also, are they there to help you at the races?

Are Motocross school’s worth the money?

We think so. Think about how much money is spent on riding gear, bike mods and the sport in general, then ask yourself "How much is all this money spent helping my lap times and perfecting my techinques?" Anything learned at a school will make you faster and smarter, and it’s a keeper for your whole career!

What do I bring to a Motocross school?

The obvious things...your bike, all riding gear ( helmet, goggles, gloves, and boots are required) sturdy stand to hold your motorcycle up with the rider on it, food, drinks and fuel. Your bike must be ready to go for the duration of the class.

Will I be as fast as Jeremy or Ricky after attending?

It is possible, if you take what you learn and practice it and apply it.

Remember, this won’t happen in 2 days though.

What are the "Five Magics"?

The "5 Magics" are your controls...clutch, throttle, front brake, rear brake and shifter.

Is one class all I need?

Typically, a student can only absorb a certain percentage of the information at one class because the sport of motocross is so complex. Olympic athletes are trained every day. Video’s and practice manuals are designed for follow up, but we would recommend schools throughout a riders career.

How can I become a "5 MAGICS Racing Team" member?

First, we only accept riders that have attended one of our schools. This way you will know about our school, who you would be representing, and we can get to know you as well. A resume must be sent before November 30th. Do not fax resumes!

How do I get a 5 Magics MX School in our area?

It’s really pretty simple. Just ask the people who own or run the track if they might be interested in hosting a 5 Magics MX school. If so, have them contact us to find out how to get one scheduled. During the summer, mid-week classes can also be arranged when school is out.
